  • And so it goes

Amazingly I am adjusting to our new schedule quite well. It has been made easier by Ruby getting up at 6:50 a.m. and wanting to eat breakfast. The new routine has been good for us, we have also instituted naps. I can now usually get Ruby to take a nap for at least an hour with me. I think because I am willing to nap with her.

Ruby has loved school! Every prayer she says involves the phrase "Please help me to be able to go back to school tomorrow." I know she misses it on Tuesdays and Thursdays but I like having her home with me. She is so animated as she tells me about what they learn and what they talked about that day. Sometimes it is like she is doing an impression of her teacher by the way she says things. It is pretty cute. I am happy that she is enjoying learning. Her teacher is Mrs. Rodabaugh, and I truly can't imagine a better teacher for our miss Ruby. Here is a picture of Ruby and her teacher at the open house. At the open house we filled a sheet out about Ruby. One of the questions was: What do you like to do as a family that is fun? I asked Ruby the question and she without hesitation said "Reading the scriptures as a family is fun!"

Emma's appointment with the Endocrinologist when well. She seemed comfortable there. It was determined that it could be one of two things, both of which ever it happens to be will be pretty easily taken care of. She has to have a few tests to determine weather or not her body is putting out hormones and if so how her body is reacting to it. She had to have some blood drawn and did extremely well, I was worried but she didn't even cry. The tech knew exactly what she was doing and helped Emma be ok. Tomorrow we will go up to Primary Childrens to have an ultrasound and and a bone age test done. Once all of this is done we will be able to gather the information and go from there. She is such a funny girl. Emma loves to sing and as soon as we finish one song she insists on singing another.

Jed was having trouble with his motorcycle. It would start and then as soon as it was shifted into gear it would shut it self off. It turned out to be the kick stand switch. If the bike thinks the kick stand is down it turns itself off. Jed ordered a new part and fixed it himself. Work is going well for him. His boss passed away last week, so we had a busy week with the funeral and viewing. We are very grateful that things will continue on with the company in the same fashion that it has. It has been a great job for Jed and I know he is very happy. He is also really excited about our house but when asked what he is going to miss about where we are now is his young men. He really will miss his calling and I know the boys ask him each week if he really has to move.

As for myself the pregnancy has been going pretty well. I will be 7 weeks tommorow. The best part about it is that I haven't been sick at all. I seem to have escaped that part of pregnancy this time around. I have found that if I eat just a little whenever I start to get hungry. I have been rediculously tired though. I think I fall asleep usually at 10 if not earlier. I was also hoping this pregnancy that I would be able to escape the effects of hormone increases. But no such luck. when I was pregnant with Emma, around this time I would start to have a struggle with depression. With Emma it went away about 12-13 weeks. My body just doesn't do well with changes in hormones. I get really sad sometimes and the days feel really long and lonely to me even thought I am surrounded by the cutest girls in the world and my sweet husband. Other times I get along pretty well. So it is kind of an up and down thing. Saturday I was in tears when Jed came back from merchandising. We talked about it for a little bit and I asked for a Priesthood blessing. What an incredible experience. I am so thankful to have the Priesthood in my home. I felt such peace and a great assurance that my Heavenly Father knows me personally and the struggles that I am facing. One other thing that has come of this is that I have come to realize that as we go through challenges of our own we feel more compassion for others who have challenges. I am so incredibly thankful for my good husband, who is so patient with me, and so understanding and has a desire to see the best in me. I couldn't have married anyone better for me. He is my best friend and I am so glad that he is mine.

We took a camping trip at the beggining of August. We went up to 12 mile flats up in Manti. We had a wonderful time and I look forward to our trip next year. There is just something about being out in nature and being with people you love. My brother and my Dad were very generous to rent three 4-wheelers so we all could enjoy the trails up there. It was so much fun. Jed was a gem and would get up with Ruby for her 3 a.m. potty breaks. There is something about being all warm and then having to get out in the cold and put your shoes on a carrying your child to the outhouse. Your the best Jed!

  • We cut it!

For a couple weeks now Ruby has been wanting her hair cut shorter. She would always tell me "I want my hair cut like Emma's." I wanted to wait to make sure it was what she really wanted and indeed it was. Her hair was about 1 1/2 inches past her shoulder and she hated the time it took to blow dry  and style it. She loves her new hair cut. When they were finished styling it, I told her how beautiful she looked. She exclaimed "I look like Emma!" She was pretty excited.

As for me, I have been growing it since Emma was born, and I think at that time it was down to my shoulders. So after almost 21 months of growing it was more than half way down my back. It was pretty when it was done, but that was the problem. I never really got around to making it look pretty. It was usually up in a messy bun, braided or in a pony tail. I was trying to decide what to do with it for the past little bit. My goal was to grow it until our third baby was born but I figured by that point it would have been down to my hips and really making me crazy. So I figured with all the other changes going on in our lives why not add one more to the pile. I really hate this picture bu here it is. Jed was napping while I asked him to take it. I look quite frumpy I think, I pretty much just washed and blow dried it.  I am not totally laughing at my bra in the background, for all of you to see. Yes, that is where I hang my bra's and for your info that's my old exercising bra. LOL

I took Ruby to Cookie Cutters and was going to have mine cut there but I didn't want to pay what they were asking. So we finished with hers and then I took her home and dropped her off and went to get mine cut. I had to stop into Sally Hansen Beauty Supply to get a round brush to do Ruby's hair and as I was paying for my items the two gals at the counter commented on how long my hair was and they asked if I would turn around so they could see it. I told them I was actually on my way to cut it and  donate it. One of the girls immediately piped up "I'll cut it for you!" I agreed and took my stuff to the car and got my Ziploc bag and came back in. It was so exciting to see it all come off. My hair was thick enough that they were able to get 2 ponytails and ended up cutting off 13 1/2 inches in length for the ponytails. It was a really great experience and and most glad for the change.

When I got home, Ruby said, "Mommy, you look like me!" I love having Jed run his fingers through it and I really do love the length.

  • The good stuff

Our house is moving right along. It is fun to see it in each of it stages and to know that we will be out there in a little over a month. I am feeling a little overwhelmed, with everything that will be happening in the next couple weeks, like school starting, packing up, getting moved, Dr. appointments coming up and so on.But I know we will adjust and everything will work the way it should. The house is all sheetrocked and coming along well.

This is what you will see when coming into the front door. This is our living room.

Right off the living room is the stairs and the hallway that leads to the 3 upstairs bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry

Right off the living room is the dining room and the kitchen is right next to it. The first opening is for the fridge and then the pantry is at an angle.

This is our family room in the basement. It is off to the right. This is one of the rooms I am most excited for, it will allow plenty of room to play, dance, and live.

When  coming down the stairs if you go to the left it will take you down a hallway to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

We have lots of Dr. Appointments coming up in the next month, Emma will be going to see an Endocrinologist this Thursday, because we noticed something unusual at her 18 month appointment and her pediatrician thinks her body is sending out hormones that it shouldn't be. It has felt like a long wait to start figuring out what is going on, but I am glad the appointment is this week. It hasp been really hard not knowing, but I decided that I'm not going to worry until there is something to worry about.

We noticed that when Ruby would talk to us, and be concentrating really hard to tell us things, her left eye would wander. If we made any comment on it, it was like she realized what her eye was doing and it would move back. We got her in for an eye appointment that week. The Optometrist gave us a referral up to the Moran Eye Center   so she could see a Pediatric Ophthalmologist so she can be properly diagnosed.   He thinks that she is near sighted, and when we found this out we started making connections  with some of her behaviors. She often gets close to your face when she talks to you, or she stands really close to the T.V. It makes me really sad that she hasn't been seeing well for a long time, but I am glad that there is technology to find the problem in someone so small. We have an appointment with her Dr. at Primary Childrens in the beginning of September. Most likely they will just have to put her in glasses, so until she gets them we will just ask her Preschool teacher to put up close.

As for me, I have a Dr. appointment in the middle of September on Sarah's birthday. We are thrilled about it! We decided that we would just wait until we were pretty sure to test, but last Sunday Jed said " Do you think we should test today?" We had only one test so I took it, the line was pretty light. So then we were in the same place that we started. I told Jed I wanted to go to the store and get another test. But Jed shot it down immediately and said "Were not going shopping for a pregnancy test on Sunday." So later I suggested that we could compromise and we could stay up until Midnight and then Jed could go get a test. He agreed and came back with pregnancy tests and a snicker bar for himself. We are so excited to have another child! My due date is April 11th or 12th. We have lots of things to look forward to in the coming months.

  • Cousin time

A few mornings this week, we have had Brody over to visit. He is such a sweet little guy, it has been so fun to see him sitting up and just getting to cuddle him. I was looking forward to taking pictures of him with the girls but, they weren't being agreeable photography subjects that day. Emma was interested in Brody's binky. Brody was intent on getting it back and Ruby just wanted to hold him the whole time. With that said, I still think I got some cute ones.

On Thursday I went to Lehi, and Orem with my mom and sister to do a bit of shopping. The three girls had fun playing in the tree house and dinosaur bones in the mall play area. Ruby made a little friend named Abby. They went everywhere together and when it was time to say goodbye, Ruby snatched her up in a hug. It seems that where ever we go, Ruby is always making a new friend.  We also went to Ethyl and Emmetts for lunch. I was being silly and planned to eat when we got back home, but ended up eating bits and peices of the girls and part of the milk shake. Because I skimped my self I am looking forward to going back there. What I tasted was delicious. We also went to Brodbents to get the heirloom batting for the girls quilts. Erin and I went into the store quickly while, my mom entertained the natives with her peanut butter cup shake. When we got back she told us that Ruby and Phia practically polished off at least 2/3's of it. It was a fun afternoon. The three of them especially had a good time playing on grandma's bed watching Dora.
